About HookUp

Our Story

HookUp was founded in Arkness Falls in the spring of Cycle 38 with a simple premise: professionals in the greater metropolitan area deserved a single, unified platform where they could present their careers, discover opportunities, and connect with one another — regardless of which gravitational district they commuted from, which temporal zone their office operated in, or whether their industry had been reclassified by the Bureau of Categorical Records since the last time they updated their profile.

Before HookUp, professional networking in the Arkness Falls metro was fragmented. Printed directories were outdated before they left the press. Referral networks were limited to whichever colleagues happened to share your dimensional stability rating. Job seekers relied on classifieds boards that, while charming, could not distinguish between a senior engineering position and a request for someone to retrieve a crate from a sealed basement.

Our founder, Maren Aldiss, spent eleven years in talent acquisition before recognizing that the fundamental problem was not a lack of professional talent in the region — it was that nobody could find each other. "Every qualified candidate I placed," Aldiss has said, "I found by accident. I built HookUp so that the next generation of professionals could find each other on purpose."

HookUp launched with 340 professional profiles and 28 company pages. Within its first year, it had grown to become the largest professional networking platform in the Arkness Falls metropolitan area. It remains the only one.

Leadership

Maren Aldiss — Founder & Chief Executive Officer Maren spent eleven years in talent acquisition before founding HookUp. She has been recognized by the Arkness Falls Business Council as one of the metro area's "40 Under 40 (Adjusted for Temporal Displacement)" three years running. She describes her leadership philosophy as "building the professional infrastructure I wish had existed when I was trying to place a dimensional compliance auditor in a company that didn't believe in dimensions."

Torben Greve — Chief Technology Officer Torben oversees HookUp's platform infrastructure, including the systems currently listed on our Service Status page. He joined HookUp from Korrath Logistics, where he managed distributed systems across the Glindell Industrial Corridor. Torben has described the messaging relay outage as "the most intellectually stimulating challenge of my career" and has declined to estimate a resolution date, citing what he calls "professional honesty."

Suki Adebayo — Vice President of Community & Trust Suki leads community standards, content integrity, and the policies that govern how HookUp's members interact with the platform and each other. Prior to HookUp, she spent six years at the Bureau of Categorical Records, where she specialized in entity classification disputes. She brings to HookUp what she describes as "an extremely high tolerance for ambiguity and a filing system that has never failed me."

Oren Flass — Vice President of Content & Partnerships Oren oversees HookUp's editorial content, company partnerships, and the relationships with professionals and organizations that make the platform's world feel lived in. Before joining HookUp, he edited the business section of a regional publication that no longer exists, which he attributes to "market consolidation, not quality." He is responsible for every article, company page, and professional bio on HookUp, a workload he describes as "manageable, assuming nobody asks me to also do the ones that haven't been written yet."

Our Values

Connection is infrastructure. Professional relationships are not a nice-to-have. They are load-bearing. Every career is built on the people who recommended you, introduced you, endorsed you, or told you about the position before it was posted. HookUp exists to make those connections discoverable, not accidental.

Every professional has a story worth reading. A career is not a list of titles. It is a sequence of decisions, pivots, setbacks, and moments where someone decided to try something they were not yet qualified for. HookUp profiles are designed to present the full narrative — because the interesting part is never the current title. It is how you got there.

The platform should disappear. The best professional tool is one you forget you are using. HookUp is designed to put content, profiles, and opportunities in front of you without requiring you to navigate a maze, dismiss seventeen modals, or watch a tutorial video about features you did not ask for. If you notice the platform, we have more work to do.

Build for the professional you will be, not the one you are. HookUp is not a snapshot. It is a living document of professional growth. We design every feature with the understanding that the person using it today will not be the same professional in five years — and that the platform should be ready for who they are becoming.

Headquarters

HookUp, Inc. 1600 Vorreth Boulevard, Suite 800 Vorreth, Arkness Falls

Our headquarters occupies the 8th floor of the Aldrin Building in downtown Vorreth, selected for its dimensional stability score of 98.1 and its proximity to three transit lines. The office features an open floor plan, a library of every issue of the Arkness Falls Business Quarterly, and a conference room named "The Link" that our facilities team has asked us to stop renaming.

Regional Office — Grelmire 440 Patter Lane, 3rd Floor Grelmire, Arkness Falls

Our Grelmire office supports regional partnerships and content operations for the eastern metro area. The building's gravity calibration is reviewed quarterly, which the team considers a feature of the location rather than a drawback.
