How do I create an account?

You do not need an account to browse HookUp. All company pages, professional profiles, articles, job listings, and feed content are visible without signing in.

To create an account, attempt any interactive action — reacting to a post, commenting, or following a company or professional. A sign-in prompt will appear, asking for your email address. Enter it, and your account is created. There is no password, no verification email, and no onboarding questionnaire. We have your email. You have an account. That is the entire process.

Why can't I send messages?

HookUp's messaging infrastructure is currently experiencing a service disruption that has been ongoing for approximately 97 days. Our engineering team is actively working to restore message delivery, and we publish regular updates on our Service Status page.

We understand that the inability to message professionals on a professional networking platform is not ideal. We share your frustration and have expressed it to our infrastructure team in writing, verbally, and through a brief but pointed silence during a recent all-hands meeting.

Why can't I Link with someone?

The Link feature, which allows you to establish a professional connection with another member, is currently experiencing intermittent service disruptions. Attempting to send a Link request may result in a service notification rather than a connection.

This is a known infrastructure issue, not a sign that the other professional has declined your request. They have not seen your request. Nobody has seen your request. The request is in a dimensional layer that our engineering team is working to realign with the production environment.

How do I apply for a job?

Job listings on HookUp represent fictional positions at fictional companies. Clicking "Apply" may display a service notification regarding the application routing infrastructure. No application is submitted to any employer, real or fictional, when you click this button.

If you are seeking actual employment, we encourage you to explore real job platforms. If you are here to browse fictional career opportunities and imagine what it would be like to work as a Temporal Compliance Officer at AquaVoid Industries, you are using HookUp exactly as intended.

Can I post to the feed?

No. HookUp's feed is composed entirely of pre-authored content from professionals and companies on the platform. Visitors cannot publish posts, articles, or status updates to the feed. This is a feature of the platform's design, not a limitation of your account permissions.

What are Links?

A Link is HookUp's term for a professional connection between two members. When you Link with someone, you appear in their network and they appear in yours. Links are mutual — both parties must agree to the connection.

Links are not endorsements, employment offers, personal relationships, or binding agreements of any kind. They are a record that two professionals have acknowledged each other's existence on this platform, which is more than most professional networks can honestly claim their connections represent.

Can I edit my profile?

Account holders may update their display name and profile photo through their account settings. HookUp does not currently support editing other profile fields, as all professional profile content on the platform is editorially maintained.

If you believe information on a profile is inaccurate, please contact us at support@hookup.wittyverse.com and we will review it. Please note that "inaccurate" refers to internal content inconsistencies, not to the fact that the professionals on HookUp are fictional. We are aware of that.

Is HookUp free?

Yes. HookUp is entirely free to use. There are no premium tiers, paid features, or subscription plans. There is no "HookUp Pro" or "HookUp Premium" or "HookUp Gold" or any other tier name that implies paying money will make professionals more interested in your profile. Browsing is free. Reacting is free. Commenting is free. Following is free. The features that are currently non-operational are also free, which we suppose is appropriate.

How do I delete my account?

To request deletion of your account and all associated data (email address, display name, profile photo, reactions, comments, and follows), email privacy@hookup.wittyverse.com with the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days. For details on what data we collect and how it is stored, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I report a problem?

For content issues, accessibility concerns, or platform bugs, email support@hookup.wittyverse.com. Please include a description of the issue, the page where you encountered it, and your browser and device information if relevant.

For issues related to messaging, Links, or job applications, please check the Service Status page first. There is a reasonable chance the issue you are experiencing is already documented there in considerable detail.

Why does my feed look different than it did yesterday?

HookUp's feed displays content in chronological order. Content is added and updated through our editorial pipeline, which means the feed you see today may include new posts, updated profiles, or recently published articles that were not present during your previous visit. This is the feed working as intended.

If the feed appears to be in an order that is not chronological and is not reverse-chronological and is not any order you can identify, please report this to support@hookup.wittyverse.com. We have had one or two incidents in this area.

Community Guidelines

HookUp is a professional platform, and we expect all members to engage with the community accordingly. The following guidelines apply to all user-generated content on HookUp, including comments, display names, and profile photos.

Be professional. HookUp's community includes professionals from a wide range of industries, backgrounds, and perspectives. Engage with the same respect and courtesy you would bring to a professional setting. Disagreement is welcome. Hostility is not.

Be relevant. Comments should relate to the content they are posted on. HookUp is not a general discussion forum. If your comment does not connect to the post, article, or profile it is attached to, it may be removed.

Do not impersonate. Your display name and profile photo must not impersonate any real person, any fictional professional on the platform, or any public official. Parody accounts are not permitted. This is already a parody. Nesting parodies creates structural instability.

Do not spam. Repetitive, promotional, or automated content will be removed. Accounts that exist solely to post the same comment across multiple pieces of content will be suspended.

Do not harass. Targeted abuse, threats, discrimination, and sustained unwanted contact directed at other members will result in immediate account termination. We take this seriously and enforce it without exception.

Respect the platform. HookUp is a creative work. Engaging with it in good faith — browsing, reacting, commenting, exploring — is what makes it worth building. Attempting to break, exploit, or undermine the platform is not a creative contribution.

Violations of these guidelines may result in content removal, account suspension, or account termination at HookUp's discretion. If you believe your content was removed in error, contact support@hookup.wittyverse.com.
